Henkel Thailand receives SA 8000 certification

First Henkel site certified to international social accountability standard

Henkel Thai Ltd. of Bangpakong, Bangkok has become the first Henkel site in the world to be certified to the international SA 8000 social accountability standard. Besides respect for basic human rights and the prohibition of child labor and forced and bonded labor, the standard defines minimum workers' rights such as equal treatment, fair pay, and limitation of overtime.

Henkel Thai's management system, which is also certified to environmental, quality and occupational safety standards, corresponds to the requirements of SA 8000: 1997 in all respects. Certification is for a period of three years. During this time, the site will be audited every six months to monitor compliance with the standard.

Henkel shares the Bangpakong site with Cognis, its former Chemical Products business unit, which it sold in 2001. The 98 Henkel employees at the site develop and produce consumer and craftsmen adhesives.
